Introducing The Revd Jenny Petersen

Jenny is originally from Melbourne, Australia, and came to England via the USA in 1986 to expand her understanding of God's church and explore her calling as a pastor and teacher.

For a time she worked in various Christian communication and international Bible ministries.

With the support and encouragement of her local church in Wembley, Jenny trained as a minster of the Word and Sacrament in Oxford.

She was ordained in 1994 in York Minster, to serve her curacy in rural East Yorkshire in the United Benefice of Elloughton-cum-Brough with Brantingham.

Jenny returned to London in 1996 as Associate Vicar at St Mary's, Ealing, and part-time chaplain at the University of West London.

In 2000 Jenny was appointed as full-time chaplain in the Stepney area, at Queen Mary, University of London.

While there she assisted on Sundays at St George-in -the-East, and was invited to help occasionally at Westminster Abbey, first as a visiting duty chaplain and then as a priest vicar.

In 2017, the Dean of Westminster appointed Jenny as Minor Canon and Chaplain, with responsibility for the pastoral care of the members of the Abbey community, including its many staff and volunteers.

Jenny also shared responsibility with the other Minor Canons for the daily worshipping life of the Abbey and the many special services, giving particular attention to the pastoral offices and memorial services.
